How can a cat flap really be this good?

If your cat is being bullied by neighbours cats or there are stray tom cats coming into your home and spraying walls or damaging the furniture and you thought there was no light at the end of the tunnel - you can stop and think again - because the new Smart Flap is the ULTIMATE solution to keeping unwanted cats out but allowing your cat to come in absolutely unhindered. The door quickly and silently unlocks for your cats AS IF BY MAGIC using only their pre-existing microchip implant.

The new Smart Flap has an improved microchip detection range so your cat can come in easily and it works with all leading microchips - Bayer Tracer, Identichip and many others. Check your cats microchip is compatible here.

The locks are strong enough to resist all attempts by other cats to get in yet light enough to respond quickly for fast unlocking and relocking and the new draught proof seal around the transparent flap also keeps cold air out too.

What is new about the Smart Flap?

The new Pet Porte Smart Flap is the result of consultation with thousands of cat owners about their cat's experiences with cat flaps. It incorporates many new features suggested by owners of the original Pet Porte microchip cat flap too.

In addition to this Smart Flap also has improved security with a new door design that is impossible for other cats to claw open. There is absolutely nothing for them to claw onto so they cannot pull the door open outwards and sneak inside to steal your cat's delicious food.

It is also easier and more flexible to programme with an improved user interface. The door is lighter and easier for timid cats to use yet the transparent plastic is still as strong as the original Pet Porte microchip cat flap.

Will the Smart Flap fit an existing circular cat flap hole?

Yes! This is a particular advantage if you already have a double glazed window or a wall tunnel that is cut with a circular hole.

The size of the hole needed is 210mm diameter. This is the same size as the vast majority of other circular cat flaps so you can quite simply swap the Smart Flap over without any modification to the existing hole.

When is the Pet Porte Smart Flap be available?

The Pet Porte Smart Flap is expected to ship on 27th June 2009. You can pre-order it now. Please note it is only available in white at the moment for installation in a door or double glazing at the moment.

The wall version will be available in July/August 2009..

Accessories are expected to be available starting July to September 2009. A discount coupon will be sent to all customers who order before 1st July 2009 to spend towards the computer software package and connector cable or the internal porch sensor for controlling which of your cats are allowed out at what times.

What other differences are there with the Smart Flap?

The new Smart Flap can now be powered in the following ways:

• BATTERY POWER:
  A 9 volt battery will power the Smart Flap for approximately six months. A light on the panel indicates if the battery needs replacing. Scanning is on-demand only (triggered by cat touching door).

• AC ADAPTOR:
  Plug it in for maximum effectiveness. Scanning is at an optimal setting continuously checking for your cats.

• AC ADAPTOR + 9 VOLT BATTERY:
  The Smart Flap will scan at an optimal setting and you will have the added protection of battery backup in the event of a power cut.

Another added feature for complete peace of mind is the new ability to programme the Smart Flap to default to locked both ways, locked out and open in, open out and locked in, or open both ways if the battery runs out.

What else is there to know about the Smart Flap?

Soon you will also be able to order additional accessories for the Smart Flap. These will include a remote control device to save you from bending down while programming or changing the modes, an additional internal sensor porch so that you can also control which of your cats are allowed to go out (useful for people who own pedigree cats that are kept inside and standard moggies who are allowed to go out) and a module may be available at a later date so you could plug the Smart Flap into a computer to tweak the settings.
